Aldar Education are currently seeking an outstanding Head of Ministry of Education (MoE) department (Arabic Language, Islamic Studies and Social Studies) for Abdulla Bin Otaiba (ABO) Charter School in Abu Dhabi commencing the academic year 2023-2024 onwards.

ABO follows the BilArabi Curriculum for Arabic Language and the Ministry of Education Curriculum for Islamic Studies and Social Studies. ABO is a large and thriving Charter School, with @ 1550 students, from KG1 to Grade 5. The ABO aim is to be an inclusive, bi-lingual, collaborative and student-centred school. We aim to constantly develop staff, to develop stakeholder voice and to keep evolving in our practice, so demonstrating a change agent attitude.

The successful Head of MoE candidate will bring with them high expectations for outstanding practices including planning for all students, teaching and learning and have high professional expectations for themselves and the staff they lead. The capability to support the whole school vision in conjunction with their department vision is essential. The ability to analyse and present data to identify next steps in learning for the department and for individual students through intervention and high-quality teaching. The candidate’s strong knowledge of outstanding pedagogy will result in students making better than expected outcomes, aligned with a compliant and broad MoE curriculum.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of coaching staff members of all levels and abilities, that result in students receiving better quality lessons. A positive ‘can do’ attitude and sense of humour go a long way too! The Head of MoE is a Senior Teacher position and the successful candidate will a key member of our Leadership Team and will work collaboratively with sister schools across the Aldar Education network.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Head of Ministry of Education (MoE) department will demonstrate a vision for outstanding provision for students of all age and bring with them a collaborative and supportive ethos. They will have experience of the leadership skills required to achieve that vision. The Head of MOE will work with the staff to raise the standards for Arabic Language across the whole school through teacher evaluation and feedback and professional development.

The Head of MOE will work alongside the Phase Leaders, Grade Group Leaders, and the Senior Leadership Team to raise the standards for MoE subjects across the whole school.

General Responsibilities:

• To ensure a safe and secure environment that allows for appropriate social, emotional, and academic growth for all students.
• To ensure that the MOE programme is compliant with the legal, financial, and organisational structures of the institution and Ministry.
• To support the Principal in strategic planning and developing policies and procedures for the purpose of achieving the school’s vision, mission and goals in compliance of accreditation guidelines, international education standards and local laws, and regulations.
• To oversee the operational aspects of the MoE subjects ensuring development and quality assurance of the programme, including but not limited to curriculum development, extra-curricular activities, staff evaluation and development, information technology, timetabling, etc.
• To recruit and retain high quality staff members who support the school vision and ethos.
• To monitor the effectiveness of school practice and the impact on students learning, and is knowledgeable about current curriculum, instruction, and assessment practice.
• Is an advocate and spokesperson for the school to all stakeholders and established strong lines of communication with teachers, parents, and students.
• Is directly involved in the design and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
• To ensure that staff are provided with the necessary resources and professional development for successful execution of their assigned duties and responsibilities.
• To work collaboratively with the other leadership team to address all school related matters. And ensure that all relevant operational structures, such as the master timetable supervision roster, etc, are effectively and efficiently designed and implemented.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

• Suitably qualified for ADEK compliance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or other relevant field with a teaching qualification.
• Minimum of six years’ experience teaching MoE subjects.

Minimum Experience

• Leadership experience.
• Be able to work flexibly with a team of specialist staff across the school.
• Experience of working successfully with parents, partners and external agencies in the local community.
• BilArabi Curriculum knowledge is desirable, but not essential.

• Ability to lead and work collaboratively in a team, inspiring and motivating all stakeholders
• Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. A working knowledge of English is desirable.
• An understanding of equal opportunities issues in schools.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable; well organised and efficient, including completing agreed tasks within set timescales.
• Confident and proactive approach to problem solving – self-motivated and self-disciplined.
• The ability and confidence to learn a new ICT system.
• Ability to present effectively to a range of audiences.
