KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Perform routine diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine/PET OT procedures unaided and within guidelines as set out by the department policies and procedures
• Assist in performing specific nuclear medicine procedures under the supervision of more senior staff, or the Nuclear Medicine Specialist
• Assess patients’ clinical requirements to determine the appropriate nuclear medicine techniques to be used
• Educate patients and relatives on radiation safety during and after the examination/procedure
• Maintain good knowledge of, and competence with SPET/CT and PET CT scans
• Perform all types of radio pharmacy preparation quality control of radio pharmaceuticals and administration as per SOP and radio pharmacy guidelines
• Perform appropriate radio active decontamination and radio active waste management
• Maintain records of radio pharmacy preparations, radio isotop inventories, radio active waste management, and quality checks of all radiation equipment
• Maintain records of all other relevant equipment in the department as per the Facility Management Safety
• Participate in Department on-call rota as per the demands of the Nuclear Medicine Service

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• A Bachelors Degree in Radiology/Medical Imagine/Nuclear Medicine or a Higher Diploma course in Radiology (minimum three years duration) from an accredited educational institution, college or university
• A post-graduate course of study/qualification in the specialty of Nuclear Medicine
• A current license, or eligibility and registration, or certificate to practice as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist from country or origin (as applicable) and country of education

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience working as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
• Demonstrated competence in all routine Diagnostic & Therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures and PET CT procedures
• Appropriate experience and competence in assisting the Consultant in all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine and PET CT, including managing the care of both adult and pediatric patients
• Good knowledge of, and competence with SPECT/CT & PET CT scans

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
