The Senior Manager, Tax, MENAT shall report to the Head of Transfer Pricing, Tax Risk-Asia and MENAT and Tax Reporting – Asia. The role will be primarily responsible for all aspects of Transfer Pricing for MENAT region and shall provide strategic guidance and support to the regional sites & business units in this regard. While primarily focused on Transfer Pricing the role will also provide tax SME support across other areas of responsibility within the MENAT Tax team including but not limited to business advisory, transaction advisory, operational risk related to tax, tax reporting etc.

Key responsibilities

Transfer Pricing:

• Key member of the Regional MENAT Tax team and part of Global Transfer Pricing Team, working collaboratively with Regional and Group tax colleagues to achieve an effective management of transfer pricing in MENAT region.
• To support line manager and Regional Tax head in formulating a clear vision, strategy and plan for the effective management of Transfer Pricing taking into account the commercial and regulatory context of the Group.
• To work closely with Business and Finance teams to maintain and manage the transfer pricing documentation requirements and related compliance as specified under UAE transfer pricing tax legislation, including handling related tax audit enquiries.
• Partnering with Business, Functions, local sites and Regional tax to identity, document and periodically review intra-group transactions within their respective remit.
• Proactively manage emerging transfer pricing issues including proposed changes in tax law and developing audit issues in MENAT Region, and advising sites / business on the change impact and assessment thereof.
• To partner with Global and Regional TP teams in addressing emerging transfer pricing issues, implementation and enhancement of policies and procedures.

Other Tax Matters:

• To provide tax SME support as required across the broad spectrum of responsibility of the MENAT Tax team covering UAE domestic and international tax matters including but not limited to business advisory, transaction advisory, corporate restructuring, M&A activity and tax reporting.
• To work closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders across Business and Functional teams in the delivery of such tax SME support in pursuit of HSBC’s commercial objectives taking into consideration both the relevant technical tax analysis and HSBC’s approach to tax risk management.

Oversight of operational risk related to tax in the Region and management of such risk directly in the UAE through the provision of advice and guidance to Regional Tax Risk stewards including preparation of risk reporting packs for Tax Risk forums.

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
• Minimum of 10 years of tax and accounting experience with a public accounting firm or publically held corporation tax department.
• Qualified professional with extensive experience in transfer pricing and good general knowledge of corporate and international tax, operational taxes and other tax matters relevant to financial services.
• Should be familiar with financial services and banking operating models i.e., aspects of processes, controls, governance and risk management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced Excel skills a plus.
• Aptitude and appetite to develop knowledge and understanding in relation to the deployment of technology in a tax context to improve and/or transform tax processes.
• Strong oral, written, presentation, organizational and project management skills.
• Effective communicator and negotiator with strong presentation skills, embracing technology and capable of project management within given timelines.
